One reason that millions of Americans lack retirement security is that the middle class has been squeezed for more than four decades – making it difficult to earn and save enough for old age. For an equitable society, we must rebuild the middle class so that Americans can enjoy financial and health security during their working years and in retirement. Rebuilding the middle class means better jobs, higher wages, and affordable healthcare. President Biden’s infrastructure proposal can move this country in the right direction. But rebuilding also requires fortifying – and expanding – Social Security and Medicare. Today’s workers and tomorrow’s retirees will depend on their earned benefits even more than previous generations. We must ensure that both programs remain financially stable – and that benefits continue to meet Americans’ changing needs. Rebuilding the middle class also means stopping proposals to cut or undermine Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. It’s time to demand Congressional action on rebuilding the middle class for a stronger America where everyone has a chance to thrive. Join us.

“This is the Moment to Rebuild America’s Middle Class”
“As a nation, we can’t move forward unless everyone has an opportunity to thrive. That means the opportunity to earn a living wage. It means affordable, accessible health care for all Americans. It means having enough income to save for retirement, free from anxiety about falling into poverty.”
‘What social insurance did is create the strongest middle class the world has ever seen. And we have to strengthen that safety net.” Senator Sherrod Brown 4/7/2021
“America was not built by Wall Street. It was built by the middle class, and unions built the middle class,” White House Office of Management and Budget
“When we talk about rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure, we must include low-income and affordable housing. Today, 500,000 Americans are homeless, and 18 million spend 50% of their incomes on shelter. We can create millions of jobs building the housing we desperately need.” @SenSanders 3/18/2021
